Purpose

This template helps you record and track each piece of creative writing you prepare for submission to literary magazines or other venues.

How to Use

Create one entry for each individual piece of writing. This template will allow you to keep track of essential details related to each work.

Title: The title of your piece.
Status: Use this field to track what stage the writing is in.
Words/Lines: The word count for prose or the line count for poetry. This helps you stay mindful of submission limits for different magazines.
Genre & Sub Genre: What type of writing is it? (e.g., Poetry, Fiction, Nonfiction) Add in subgenres as needed (e.g., Flash Fiction, Prose Poem, Speculative Fiction, Horror, Cli-fi). (You can delete any I’ve put in that you don’t need.)
Submission History: This field pulls from your Lit Mag Love Submissions Tracker to show where you’ve sent (or plan to send) each piece.

Suggestions

You can create a separate entry for each piece even if you plan to submit multiple pieces (e.g., a series of poems).
Use the Lit Mag Love Submissions Tracker to ensure you have a clear overview of where each piece has been sent and any rejections, acceptances, or pending responses.

This template can serve as your personal creative writing archive and connect directly to your submission workflow for better organization and tracking.
